A CRITICAL REVIEW OF PARTY FUNDING: The first two years of the Political Party Funding Act

The roots of the PPFA can be found nearly 20 years ago when the Institute for Democratic Alternatives in South Africa (IDASA) launched a court application with the Western Cape High Court seeking an order that political parties should be required to disclose theirm private funding donations. This emerged from a campaign run by IDASA to gain access to private funding information by submitting requests under the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA).
